The new program in Germany is the Academic year one more component of the international and multicultural orientation of Passau university. The program is designed for foreign students insufficiently owning or ignorant German, but planning to begin a course on receiving degree at Passau University or in other German higher education institution.

The program consists of three modules:

Module 1: Courses A1 and A2 (beginner level) with 378 training sessions

Module 2: Courses B1 and B2 (intermediate level) with 386 training sessions

Module 3: Course C1 (advanced level) and a preparatory course for the exam DSH (German language exam for admission to higher education) with 222 training sessions

(Classes last for 45 minutes)

Schedule program modules Academic Year in Germany:

Module 1: October-February

Module 2: February-June

Module 3: June-September

Winter holidays: 2 weeks in December

Summer Vacation: 4 weeks in August

Students on courses will be intensively German 5 days a week. They will be taught by experienced lecturers. Additional activities will be carried out by teachers, which will also help students to solve the problem.

Certificates and points to European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)

Each module ends with an exam. Certificates will be awarded for each module successfully completed. Receive a certificate and passing exam DSH (German language exam for admission to higher education). This certificate confirms that you meet the language requirements for admission to the course in the German university.

You also get points for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System for passing the course of German. All courses will be taught in accordance with the Common European Framework for foreign language proficiency.

At your request, we will help you find accommodation in a student dormitory. The cost of a single room with bath / shower room and a shared kitchen about 250 € per month.

Also we supply card, which allows students to buy inexpensive food (about 5 €) at the university canteen and cafeteria.

additional activities

In addition to German language courses students will be offered additional activities, including a tour of the city of Passau, a cruise on the Danube River, hike to an organ concert at the world-famous cathedral of Passau, movie theaters, sporting events, trips to local businesses and much more.

Master of Arts in the study of Southeast Asia

introduction

In addition to the transfer of comprehensive and specialized knowledge of Southeast Asia, Master of Arts in the study of Southeast Asia to provide students with the methodology and the practical skills needed for self-solve complex scientific subjects of study.

Regional focus on South-Eastern Europe will give the program directly related to one of the major growth areas in the world. All courses of this program are taught in English.

In addition, the Language Centre of the University of Passau offers courses in Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Chinese, which will give students the opportunity to learn or improve their skills in one or several Asian languages.

• Basic modules: Theory and Methods of study of modern Southeast Asia; development strategy and economic change; gender, religion and culture; conflicts, natural disasters and processes of nation building; urbanism.

• The program is taught entirely in English.

Master's program prepares students in all specialties in which difficult issues should be investigated independently and analytically, and where necessary in-depth knowledge of regional specificity and practical experience related to Southeast Asia.

Graduates find employment in private business sectors, public service and political organizations, research and assessment departments at institutions of education, information companies, cultural institutions and associations.

Deep knowledge of the graduates in the language and culture of Southeast Asia to attract multinational companies or aid organizations, as well as the tourism sector.

Candidates who successfully complete the master program, can enroll in doctoral programs and thereby lay the foundation for academic growth.

This course covers 3 groups of modules:

A) Theory and Methods

B) Focus module

C) Research Module

A) Module Theory and Methods Students will be taught the theory of modern empirical research and research methods related to the study of Southeast Asia.

B) In the module will focus ustanvoleny own priorities in terms of historical and cultural area, work area and subject. Students select at least 2 of the following modules examination 4 focus modules:

• Strategy development and economic change;

• Gender, religion and culture;

Admission requirements and how to proceed

Academic requirements:

Under this program, it is assumed that you should have a first degree in sociology or cultural studies or economics, awarded after a course of full-time study for 3 years, with a mark of 2.5 or higher grade.

Language requirements:

If English is not your native language or the language of instruction in the first degree, you need to prove your English proficiency comply language TOEFL test with a score of at least 240 (on a computer), 580 (in writing) or 94 (for the Internet-based).

Since these courses are taught entirely in English, the requirements of the German language is not and you do not need to make the application a certificate DSH (German language exam for admission to higher education).

Master's Program. Investigation of Russia and Eastern and Central Europe

Interdisciplinary Master's curriculum "Research in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe" connects history, literature and culture in the countries and cultures of Eastern Europe. Upon successful completion you will receive an academic degree "Master of Arts (MA)."

The average training period is 2 years or four semesters. At this time, the number of credits for the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is 120 (30 credits per semester). Master's thesis is 30 credits in European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System.

The curriculum of the Faculty of Philosophy is focused on the research work and consists of 3 modules.

includes orientation in the theories and methods of modern eastern and central-eastern European research project that promotes interdisciplinary research method of Slavonic and East European History and trains them to use in a specific research project.

Q: The main module offers the following topics:

• National, ethnic, cultural and religious identity in Eastern and Central Europe;

• Regions and borders in Eastern Europe;

• Literature and discourse in Eastern Europe;

• Internal and external conflicts in Eastern and Central Europe.

C: Module of research

The possibility of funding students at the University of Passau

How much is a study in Passau and how can I pay?
